Who else has done crazy amounts of cardio in hopes of losing weight?
Years ago, I thought the best way to lose weight was to do full cardio workouts at least 5 days a week.
Oh, was I wrong!
Brides, today we are talking all about the importance of incorporating weight training into your wedding workout routine.
When it comes to losing weight for your wedding, it’s crucial to add in weight training at least three times a week.
More emphasis on weight training, less on cardio.
Weight training is really important for brides, whether you are trying to burn fat or just look your best in your wedding dress. Here are some of the top benefits of adding weight training to your wedding fitness routine.
Have you heard that muscle weighs more than fat? That is true, which is why many women could look much leaner and wear smaller sizes in clothing, but the scale says they weigh more. This is because they have built up muscle through weight training, which is actually helping to burn more fat and calories. So they look thinner and more toned, but technically weigh more. This is why you shouldn’t always pay attention to the scale, but focus on lifting weights to look and feel better.
Weight training and strengthening your muscles gives you more energy during the day, but when it is time to rest and go to sleep, you will also sleep better. This is why after one of your STF strength workouts, you practically fall asleep as soon as your head hits the pillow. With better sleep, you are also burning more fat and will have a faster metabolism when you wake up, so this is truly a win-win!
Nearly every part of your body benefits from weight training, including having better strength and support in your body for your muscles, bones, and tissue. Strength training helps to improve your bone density and will prevent bone loss as you age. Your muscles and tissue will get stronger, reducing potential injuries later in life. This is SO important for women, and it’s never too early to develop a solid weight lifting plan to prevent potential bone density loss as you age. The earlier, the better. All of this is good news when you are trying to lose weight and want to avoid injuries that could keep you from your wedding workouts.
As you can see from the benefits, weight training gives you a better quality of life. You avoid injury, lose weight faster and easier by burning more fat, and will just look and feel better overall. There are a lot of reasons to add weight training to your wedding fitness routine and not many reasons to avoid doing it.
Weight training is the most effective way to get in shape for your wedding. I’ll go over the reasons why it’s the most effective in a future post. 😉
Just know that when you start an effective weight training plan, you do not need to spend more than 30 minutes a day exercising. Another reason why I recommend lifting for brides, because I know you are busy and don’t have a lot of free time!
