There are endless ways to lose weight but starting at the beginning of your day can set you up for real success. To help you stay on track, I have compiled a list of my 4 favorite morning habits to aid in weight loss.
Now, I know that morning can be rough for some, and you may feel like being as lazy as possible until you must head out the door but starting your day right can put you on track for some serious weight loss. Therefore, I created a list of easy habits to incorporate into your busy lifestyle.
My first tip is to wake up at the same time every day. When you maintain a consistent sleep schedule, you also maintain a consistent eating schedule. When we eat around the same time every day, our bodies send fewer unnecessary hunger signals, and we tend to eat less.
Think of it this way: on the weekend, you decide to sleep in about an hour or two later than during the work week. Now, your bedtime ends up an hour or two later than usual. You still eat the same breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but you ALSO add a late-night snack. Over time, this habit of inconsistent diet times can lead to an increase in weight gain.
Adding protein to your diet is a highly recommended method to lose weight. Protein helps to curb your appetite and reduce the need for excess food. An American Journal of Clinical Nutrition study found that those who ate higher amounts of protein had increased satiety and a decreased calorie intake.
A protein-rich diet can also lead to muscle growth; the more muscle you have, the more calories you naturally burn. Consider adding protein-rich foods to your breakfast plan, such as:
