The Bridal Body Workout Guide

The holiday season can come with the notion that losing control of your fitness and nutrition habits is inevitable. However, I am here to tell you that it’s not true; you don’t have to fall out of sync with the healthy habits you worked so hard to build. With these 4 helpful reminders, you can stay on track and continue to make progress in your health and wellness journey!

Don’t Let the Holidays Put You in a Slump

Exercising during the holidays may be the last thing you want to do. I mean, we can almost all agree that the holidays are the most stressful time of year. You have extra shopping, planning, cooking, decorating, and events to go to. However, it’s crucial to remember WHY you started your fitness journey to begin with and not let the holiday season put you in a slump.

To maintain fitness motivation, make a plan that works around all the extra things you have going on, and stick to it! If a bit of support will help keep you focused, try finding a workout buddy or joining a wedding fitness program! Sometimes, all you need to stay driven is someone to encourage you to keep going.

Continue to Track Calories

Even during the holidays, it is essential to track your calories. Even if you exceed your usual limit, it’s good to know where you stand at the end of the day. Besides, one of the BEST ways to maintain healthy habits is consistency. Continue to practice habits like calorie tracking even when you aren’t sure you want to. This way, once the holidays end and you are ready to get back into the groove of things, there will be no struggle.

Choose Your Indulgences Wisely

Holiday time comes with lots of yummy goodies that will be tempting to indulge in. And it’s okay to indulge a little! A bit of extra sugar and a few larger-than-normal meals will hardly set you back, let alone destroy your progress completely. Yet, it is important for your overall health not to OVER-indulge.

Remember, moderation is key. Are you in need of some healthy holiday eats to keep your temptations at bay? Check out my Bridal Body Cookbook, featuring tons of delicious and healthy recipes to try this season.

Give Yourself a Break

Let yourself rest! Yes, I know I said to maintain a workout schedule and continue practicing the good habits you spent so much time building, but I never said you had to give it 100%. It’s unreasonable to believe you can always give it your 100%. It is highly encouraged to take a step back and use some of the holiday seasons to relax and enjoy the company of your friends and family.

So, grab yourself a hot cup of peppermint tea, take a deep breath, and let yourself relax! And if you need more ideas on how to incorporate more rest into your life, check out my book The Little Book of Rest.

The Bottom Line

Regarding the holiday season, your fitness journey might feel daunting. You are busier than usual with the extra chores and commitments accompanying the holiday. Plus, you are surrounded by sweets, large and savory meals, tempting leftovers, and even holiday cocktails!

You shouldn’t worry about losing any progress, however. Try your best to stay consistent but don’t burn yourself out because I promise you that a temporary step back will not hinder your fitness progress.
