As a bridal personal trainer, I know firsthand how much time, energy, and thought goes into preparing for the big day. From picking out the perfect dress, to nailing down the menu, to ensuring that every little detail is taken care of – it can be a lot to handle! However, amidst all the planning and preparation, carving out time for workouts may prove challenging, whether you’re striving to feel good or you’re working towards a specific fitness goal. If you have time for one type of workout, I suggest you focus on strength training! I’m here to tell you that incorporating strength training into your pre-wedding fitness routine is essential for feeling confident, strong, and beautiful on your special day.
Here are just a few reasons why I believe every bride-to-be should add strength training to their wedding workout routine:
It’s no secret that planning a wedding can be tiring and stressful, but incorporating strength training into your routine can help boost your energy levels and increase your endurance. Strength training exercises like squats and lunges can help improve circulation, which in turn can give you a much-needed energy boost. This extra energy can make all the difference when it comes to tackling the tasks on your to-do list and surviving the super busy months and weeks leading up to your wedding. By adding strength training to your routine, you’ll have the energy to take on all the challenges that come with wedding planning, and still have energy left over to enjoy the special moments.
Wedding planning can be incredibly stressful, and it can be easy to let that stress consume you. But strength training can help provide a much-needed outlet for that tension. When you exercise, your body releases endorphins – the feel-good hormones – which can help reduce stress and anxiety. So, when you’re feeling overwhelmed, take a break from wedding planning and hit the gym (or home gym!) for a strength training session – you’ll come out feeling relaxed and recharged. In addition, strength training is a great way to focus your mind and get into the present moment by focusing on your breath and each rep, which can help take your mind off of all the stress that comes with wedding planning.
When you strength train, you are challenging and pushing yourself, which can lead to a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. Over time, as you build strength and see progress in your workouts, you’ll start to feel a sense of pride in your abilities and in your body. You’ll look back and see how much you’ve progressed since you started!
Gaining strength through weight lifting can make you feel more capable and in control of your body. You’ll be able to tackle new challenges, lift heavier weights, and perform exercises that you once thought were impossible. This sense of physical empowerment can translate to other areas of life, helping you feel confident and in control no matter what life throws your way.
Many brides-to-be are looking to lose weight before their wedding, and strength training is an extremely effective way to do so. By building muscle, you’ll increase your metabolism, which will help you burn more calories even when you’re not exercising. In addition, strength training can help you maintain a healthy weight even after the wedding is over. Unlike other forms of exercise that solely focus on burning calories, lifting weights helps you build lean muscle mass, which can help increase your metabolism and support long-term weight loss. And as an added bonus, building muscle can help you look more toned and defined, which can help you feel even more confident in your wedding dress.
Incorporating effective strength training workouts into your pre-wedding routine is a great investment in your overall health. Strength training can help improve bone density, reduce the risk of injury, and increase flexibility. By focusing on your physical health, you’re setting yourself up for a long and happy life with your significant other. You’ll establish healthy habits that will benefit you for the rest of your life!
Strength training is a crucial component of overall health and wellness, and it is especially important for women. In addition to building muscle and improving strength, strength training offers numerous physical and mental health benefits that can help women feel their best both now and in the future.
First, strength training can help improve bone health – this is SO important! As we age, our risk for osteoporosis increases, and strength training can help mitigate this risk by improving bone density and reducing the risk of fractures. By incorporating strength training into your routine, you can help protect your bones and ensure that you’re able to live a healthy and active life for years to come.
Another important physical benefit of strength training for women is muscle retention. As we age, our muscle mass also naturally decreases, which can lead to a decline in strength, balance, and overall physical function. Strength training can help counteract this decline by building and maintaining muscle mass, which can lead to us feeling happy and strong as we age.
But the benefits of strength training don’t stop there – there are also numerous mental health benefits to consider. Like I mentioned earlier, strength training can help reduce stress, improve mood, and boost self-confidence. It’s a great way to escape the stresses of daily life and focus on yourself for a little while. And this is such an important time of your life to focus on simply being happy and enjoying your time being engaged!
I covered a lot of ground in this blog post, from the physical benefits of strength training to the mental health benefits and why it’s especially important for women. But now I’ll bring it all together and talk about why strength training is truly a must for every bride-to-be, whether your goal is to feel great overall, lose weight, or gain muscle.
For starters, strength training can help you look and feel your best on your big day. Whether you’re striving for a toned and defined look or simply want to feel confident and empowered, strength training can help you get there. And with all the other stressors of wedding planning, taking time to focus on yourself and your fitness can be a much-needed escape.
Additionally, strength training can help you maintain a healthy weight and reduce the risk of injury. With all the dancing, photo-taking, and other physical demands of your wedding day, you want to make sure you’re feeling great physically. An effective strength training program can help you build strength, endurance, and stability, so you can enjoy your special day without any aches or pains.
Finally, strength training is a great way to invest in your health and well-being, both now and in the future. Incorporating weight lifting into your routine can help you maintain a healthy weight, improve your overall physical and mental health, and set you up for a lifetime of health and happiness.
Whether you’re a seasoned gym-goer or a fitness newbie, it’s never too late to start incorporating strength training into your routine and I highly encourage it.
