Staying on track with a diet can be difficult whether you are just starting out or months into your fitness journey. Let’s face it, we are all human and we ALL have cravings; sometimes, these cravings can be irresistible. The best way to combat these cravings is to find wholesome meal ideas that are both easy to make and delicious to taste! So, look no further because I have worked up a list of my top 4 healthy meals that taste like cheat meals.
Oh, taco Tuesday, how you will forever have my heart! These Mexican-inspired meals can provide you with well-rounded macros, including high proteins, healthy fats, and sustainable carbs. Not to mention how incredibly delicious they are!
A taco night will help curb cravings for greasy fast foods and help you stay on track with your goals. Here are a few of my favorite taco ideas:
Shredded Chicken tacos– chicken tacos are a great alternative to your typical ground beef tacos. Chicken is lean meat, meaning it has fewer calories and a lower fat content than red meats like beef.
Blackened Salmon tacos- Blackened salmon tacos are a great option for someone looking for that delectable grilled taste. Additionally, salmon tacos can provide another lean meat option and boost your Omega-3 levels.
Baja Shrimp tacos- Baja shrimp tacos will have you feeling like you are in a tropical paradise while still allowing you to remain steady in your diet. This one is personally my favorite!
Protein Pancakes are a fantastic and effortless way to boost your protein intake and satisfy a desire for a sugary snack. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to make these tasty pancakes; simply choose your favorite pancake mix (from a box or from scratch) and add your go-to protein powder. You can add flavored protein powders, bananas, chocolate chips, or blueberries to enhance the flavor and hit those cravings more specifically. If you want to make it even easier on yourself, there are many pre-made protein pancake mixes, some of which are keto!
The options are virtually limitless when it comes to making yummy yet healthy pancakes, so don’t be afraid to experiment!
Don’t worry! You can have french fries, even on a diet! The trick is to find potato alternatives that give you a boost in nutrients and, most importantly, avoid the fryer!
Sweet Potato- This one is easy; sweet potatoes are an excellent vitamin C, A, and potassium source. They are also primarily fat-free and provide long-lasting energy. After slicing the sweet potato into thin slices and seasoning them with salt, you can throw them into an air fryer or oven until they are crispy and ready to eat.
Zucchini- You can prepare zucchini the same way as sweet potatoes to make a tasty French fry alternative. Zucchini also provides vitamins, antioxidants, and potassium and can be a great way to improve digestion.
Avocado fries- Yes! I said avocado fries! Avocados are a great source of healthy fats and vitamins. They are also known to act as a natural detox, improve vision, prevent cancer, and lower your risk of heart disease.
Skinny Taste added this wonderful recipe for the perfect avocado fries that avoid using a deep fryer.
Craving a late-night pizza run? Before you place that order, try an oven-baked flatbread pizza first. To make this low-calorie pizza, you only need a few ingredients.
You would be surprised by the amazing macros you can get from flatbread pizzas. On average, you’ll find that this mouthwatering meal will give you 20 grams of protein and 27 grams of carbs for about 300 calories and only 5 grams of fat!
